Answers to most Frequently Asked Questions:

Answers provided by The Boyfriend Bears Teen Board

What age group is this for?

We have found that the most receptive age to our stuffed Boyfriend Bear is between 6th-9th grade. It really depends on the maturity of the individual. Our Purity is a Battle curriculum is applicable to 6th grade and older.

Does Boyfriend Bears stand for no dating?

Absolutely not! This is a common misconception. We believe that dating is a gift from God when used with the right motivations. When it come to “what age” is okay to start dating, it really depends on both individuals’ maturity level and intentions for the relationship. We emphasize being strong in your relationship with God FIRST and your identity in Him. Make sure the guy you want to date is in a position to lead you toward God, not away from Him.

Is Boyfriend Bears only for girls who haven’t compromised their purity?

Again, absolutely not! Since Jesus has paid the price and offers redemption for everyone, a past mistake does not define you. The choice to pursue purity is available to anyone.

Romans 8:1 tells us; “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus, the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death”.

God heals people (spiritually and emotionally) and leads them into healthy relationships. It’s never too late to live a life of purity.

My daughter wants to host a session but doesn’t know a lot of girls to invite.

Not a problem! You can think about contacting your school counselor or church youth group leader/pastor  to host the session. If this doesn’t work out, small groups are wonderful as well. Some of our best sessions have been even just between a mother and a daughter!

How many girls should I invite to a session?

Ideally 5-10 when hosted in a home. You may consider making this a special event including  dinner, dessert and maybe even a sleepover! School or Youth Groups can be any size depending on how many small group leaders there are to help out.

Do you encourage parent involvement during the sessions?

The session is a great time for mother and daughters to bond. For groups of girls, a host or small group/youth group leader is encouraged to help facilitate the discussion questions at the end of each session section. (See Purity is a Battle: curriculum for session section break-outs) The most important aspect for moms is to follow up with their daughters in the days and weeks after the session.

Can I start a Boyfriend Bears Chapter in my hometown?

Definitely! Our Purity is a Battle curriculum is now available on DVD. Anyone can use our materials to host a session in their home, school or church community. We “The Boyfriend Bears Teen Board” started facilitating sessions when we were in 9th grade.
